OPERAFEST LISBON AND OEIRAS 2025 is coming!
7th August to 13th September
"Forbidden love"

In particular, “forbidden love,” haunted by illness and death, by social class, by duty and betrayal, giving rise to the most extraordinary operas.
The highlights include Verdi's “La Traviata” and the Operatic Rave, at the Convento da Cartuxa; Purcell's “Dido and Aeneas”, at the Aula Magna, marking the presence of baroque opera for the first time at the festival; the national premiere of the opera “Julie” by Belgian composer Philippe Boesmans, based on the great classic “Miss Julie” by A. Strindberg, at Culturgest; and the return of Mozart's “A Flauta Mágica” for the whole family, also to be filmed for RTP2, at Centro Cultural Olga Cadaval, Sintra.
There are workshops, conferences, and Cine-ópera at the Cinemateca Portuguesa, which also celebrates the two hundredth anniversary of one of most celebrated Portuguese writers, Camilo Castelo Branco!
