The painting of Filipa Pais Rodrigues reveals an aesthetic shaped by her experiences as a citizen of the world – from Coimbra, where she was born in 1969, to Lourenço Marques (now Maputo) via Macau.
It is a personal and artistic journey in which self-knowledge and creation go hand-in-hand, with the dual theme of construction and deconstruction made visible and tangible in her paintings, installations and ORIGAMI.
From the blend of magenta, yellow and black emerges gold – a signature colour in the artist's works, evoking the sun and power, wisdom and knowledge.
