Although this 16th Century religious building, erected by Franciscan monks, has been fully restored, its original character has been retained. The interior remodelling has resulted in a modern cultural space that is particularly suited to music. There is also a room for temporary exhibitions. The church is noteworthy for its paintings of St. Francis and St. Domingos as well as the 18th Century tile panel. Visitors can also enjoy the beautifully cared for gardens and the viewpoint, which offers spectacular panoramas of Costa de Caparica, Lisbon, the Sintra Mountains, Cape Espichel, St Julian’s Tower, Bugio and Cascais bay.
