Details

The technical and iconographic uniqueness of their work led sculptor João Rolaça to Tamil Nadu, where these monumental sculptures inspired his doctoral thesis on large-scale ceramic sculpture.

The research sparked an exchange of artistic knowledge, including a residency at the Convent Workshops in Montemor-o-Novo.

There, three master Velar artists created the sculptures on show, alongside terracotta sculptures from the Museu do Oriente collection and works by sculptor Liliana Velho.
