Alcochete has been hosting the Green Cap Festival, which encapsulates all that is genuine about the town. Every August, thousands gather to relive a long-standing tradition.

Deeply rooted in Alcochete’s identity, the Festas do Barrete Verde e das Salinas honour two central aspects of local life: bullfighting and salt.
The programme is rich and varied, with highlights including bull runs through the streets, tributes to the Campino (herdsmen), the Salineiro (salt worker) and the Forcado (bull handler), as well as Alcochetano Day and the solemn procession in honour of Nossa Senhora da Vida.
Days and nights of celebration, filled with music, entertainment and the best of Portuguese food.
