The D. Luís I Foundation, in collaboration with Cascais City Council, and the Museum of Neo-Realism, in collaboration with Vila Franca de Xira City Council, are presenting Assalto ao Palácio de Verão, an exhibition of paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs from the museum's collection, at the Palácio da Cidadela Exhibition Gallery.
From April 24 to September 14, works by Júlio Pomar, Mário Dionísio, Maria Barreira, Manuel Ribeiro de Pavia, Alice Jorge, Victor Palla, Querubim Lapa, Nuno San-Payo, Cipriano Dourado, Luís Dourdil, Hansi Steal and Dorindo de Carvalho, among many other artists, will be exhibited as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of April 25, which have been taking place in Cascais for about a year.
Over the next few months, residents and visitors will be able to see pieces by Portuguese and foreign artists “who, over a long period of the 20th century, raised awareness through manifestations of rebellion which, through their different proposals, challenged the idea of monolithism of which they were accused”, reveals the President of the D. Luís I Foundation. Luís I Foundation, which manages the programming of the Museum Quarter, home to the emblematic Citadel Palace, a monumental space chosen by King Luís I, patron of the Foundation, and his son King Carlos, for the royal family to spend part of the summer.
